The Nephite king took a lot of responsibility for the safety
of his people, and endured in his preparations and fortifications for a long
time before they were needed. He kept the important things in the forefront of
his thoughts, and REMEMBERED. And when the enemy came his people were prepared.
In the battles and years ahead, it is important for me to remember and not stop
preparing. In the past I have run in spurts and then rested, but I need to be
steady and sure in keeping my family safe. I can’t get lazy and forget.
I appreciate that having lived among the Lamenites he takes
time to explain the hatred and thinking of the later generations. Before I read
and understood this, I had, in the past wondered why they were still so mad and
vengeful. It explains a lot about what was going on in Laman and Lemuel’s head,
too. They kept getting offended instead of being humble and repenting. That’s
an important lesson for me in taking counsel. I usually don’t react very
humbly, either.
It’s seems like Zeniff was a good man, who in the end of his
days tried hard to serve the Lord. He sure was blind when it came to his sons,
though. He chose Noah to reign after him.
