I always understand where Laman and Lemuel are coming from,
unfortunately. How many times have I been frustrated when things that I thought
should work because I was doing what the Lord wanted didn’t work right away.
And how many times have I taken out my frustration with God, really, on my
family. I’m good at misplaced anger. Aren’t we all?
Even for all their murmuring, they must have cared some
about the gospel. Laman went in first to Laban and tried to get the plates. And
then they tried again when Nephi exhorted them about preserving their language
and holding on to the words of the prophets. If you didn’t care about those
things, that wouldn’t have been persuasive would it?
I guess caring a little bit isn’t enough. That’s why it has
to be our whole soul.
