When Omar began the Book of Mormon for the first time, my
Freshman year at BYU, he started at the beginning with the introduction and
testimonies. He told me that as he read it he knew those men were not lying.
That was the experience I had today. As I read it, I felt the Spirit testify
that they were telling the truth.
Now for Omar, that wasn’t enough, he didn’t join the Church
for three more years, which under the circumstances I found really frustrating.
But looking back I can at least appreciate that he could feel the Spirit from
the very beginning of his inquiry into the matter.
