I wonder if part of the reason the Lord sent the boys back
to get the plates instead of taking them in the first place, and part of the
reason it was difficult and long, was so that Sariah could know “of a surety”
that her husband was following the Lord. The journey to the promise land was
only going to get harder, and she needed that sure knowledge to keep supporting
him. I love that the Lord I patient with us in our doubts instead of just
getting impatient and frustrated. He just loves and gently tries to help. Why
is it so hard for me to be more like Him?
I love that when something good happened, the first thing
they did was give thanks to God. What a wonderful grateful attitude, and always
remembering.
I also felt the Spirit testify of the great worth and truth
of the scriptures as Nephi talked about the plates of brass.
